Office of the Registrar

The Registry of HCU is in charge of all Academic Information and Student records of the institution. The unit is interconnected with all departments, units and offices of HCU. We coordinate the activities of Students. The departments are:

Registrar

Dr. Christopher Yartey Akwaa-Mensah has worked in university management since 1993.With over 29 years experience in higher education administration, Dr.Akwaa-Mensah describes himself as an accomplished civil servant and an expert in university governance and policy development.
He has worked with the Non-Formal Division of the Ministry of Education as a Training Officer and the Ghana Highway Authority as a Personnel Officer.
In the higher education sector, Dr. Christopher Akwaa-Mensah had worked in the various sectors of the Registry which include: General Administration, Council Secretariat and the Human Resource Division of the University of Education, Winneba.  He rose through the ranks from Assistant Registrar to Deputy Registrar from 1993 to 2005.In October 2005, he was appointed Registrar of the university and served for twelve years.
In October 2017, Dr. Akwaa-Mensah was appointed Registrar and Vice-President of the African University College of Communications and in 2019 he was appointed the Acting President of the same university, a position he held for two years before joining the Heritage Christian College in March 2022.
Dr. Christopher Yartey Akwaa-Mensah holds a doctoral degree in International Education from the University of Sussex, UK; a Master of Arts in Adult Education from the University of Ghana, Legon; Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Bachelor of law degree from the Ghana Institute of  Management and Public Administration
He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management; a member of AUA (UK); a member of the Komenda College of Education Council sub committee on Appointments and Promotions and also serves as a facilitator for staff development and training programmes for some colleges of education.
Dr. Akwaa-Mensah is married to Wonder Akwaa-Mensah and they have two daughters, Nefa and Dzidzor

What we do:
HCC Registry team acts as the custodian of students records, enforces policies to ensure the university is meeting its regulatory requirements and offers services such as:
Student registration & enrollment.
Transcript & other document requests.
Enrollment verification.
Support for international students to regularize their stay.
Teaching and exam scheduling.
Student data reports.
Provision of academic support services to students.

Objectives:
To maintain accurate academic records on students.
To provide accurate reports on students’ numbers and academic performance.
To support students in achieving academic success in line with academic policies.
To monitor and ensure that academic standards are sustained.
